There is a handful of different committees or Guilds in our chapter. Together they create a lively student body with plenty of activities to take part in.
Styret – the Management Guild
Styret is the head board of our chapter and consists of 7 people elected by the chapter. They have the head responsibilities of our chapters activities. If you have any suggestions or questions concerning our chapter and don’t know who to talk to, you can always mail styret@f.kth.se.
FINT – the International Guild
FINT is the International committee of the Physics chapter. Our main objectives are to welcome and assist the foreign exchange students and to provide international activities for the chapter. This includes finding Swedish buddy students, being a link between international and Swedish students and lots other fun stuff! FINT consists of the president FINTO, assisting president vFINTO, the Swedish buddy students, and the rest of the members of FINT. If you have any questions, contact finto@f.kth.se.
DaSK – the Computer Guild
DaSK is short for DatorStödsKommittén, Swedish for The Computer Support Committee, and is to speak for the Physics chapter in computer related matters. DaSK also does something considerably more fun, namely nurturing computer geekyness by arranging LAN parties and programming pubs now and then. We are also the chapter’s computer support department, and any and all who want help or support with computer-related matters is welcome to send an e-mail to the DaSK maillist dask@f.kth.se. The DaSK maillist is also DaSK’s primary news channel, so if you want to know about all the fun stuff going on, contact bigmac@f.kth.se and you’ll be included in the list!
fkm* – the Feaster’s Guild
fkm*, which is read fkm star, stands for ”fysiks klubbmästeri” or roughly translated to the Physics’ Pub-Guild. The task appointed to fkm* is promoting and organizing entertainment in the section which is generally achieved by pubs or parties. Examples are weekly Tuesday Pubs in Konsulatet, End-of-Exam pubs and the notorious Nubbedraget or perhaps the Schnapps Show Down in English.
fkm* is led by two Guild Masters, one is chairman of the committee and the other is financially responsible. If you wish to get information about upcoming events contact klubbmaster@f.kth.se.
FN – the Business Guild
The Physics Chapter’s Business Guild, FN, works to ensure that student members can learn about eventual, future employers. We host and advertise activities that improve the contact between students and companies, such as lunch presentations or evening lectures. If you wish to involve your self and help out, or just want information about upcoming events, please contact fnordf@f.kth.se.
Force – the Physics Chapter Student Paper
Q: What is the Force?
A: The Force is a Student Paper dedicated for the members of the Physics Chapter.
Q: When can we expect the next issue to be released?
A: The release rate generally 4 times a year but when it comes down to actual dates, it’s released when it’s completed.
Q: When is the deadline for admitting articles for the next issue?
A: Sometime in the September/October switch Exact dates will appear later.
Q: I want to publish stuff in the Force. How do I do it?
A: You write, draw or photograph whatever you want to publish and then you send it to force@f.kth.se
Q: I want to complain about something that has been published, who do I turn to?
A: Responsible publisher is the current Force Majeur Sara Aschan, and is easiest reached by mail to force@f.kth.se
FRUM – the Caretaker’s Guild
FRUM has the task of maintaining Konsulatet (the Consulate), which is the Physics Chapter Student Room located on Brinellvägen 26A, and making sure it remains as a nice place for all Physicists. Cleaning, stocking up on candy, furniture maintenance and the like is all under the care of FRUM. Konsulatet is meant to function as a centre for studies, lunch, needed rests, social bonding as well as a function room for the chapters various parties etc. In charge of FRUM is the General and the Chargé d’affaires. FSN – the Education Guild
The physics chapter’s study guild (FSN) runs the chapter’s influence on education development. According to PM for FSN, the guild shall strive for:
- A high-quality education.
- Quality teaching.
- Good study environment for the students.
- Well-being and motivation to study at the physics chapter.
- A good image for the Physics program.
Fysikalen – the Entertainer’s Guild
Fysikalen is the Physics Chapter’s very own Spex, a form of interactive theatre that is very popular among the KTH students. A lot of chapters have their own ensemble of spex, such as the Chemistry Chapter’s Krexet and THS’s own Kårspex. Fysikalen sets up a spex every second year and the next production will be held in the spring of 2012. You are more than welcome to participate in the preparations by joining i. e. the Costume or Scene group. Of course, you’re also welcome as audience. Tickets will be sold at www.fysikalen.se. IN – the Sports Guild
IN which stands for Idrottsnämnden or the Sports Guild in English, is the Guild in charge of organizing and supporting different sports related events.
Examples of such events are:
- The Åre-trip
A five day ski trip in Åre in January – a perfect way to get rid of the extra X-mas weight! - THS-IM
THS-IM is a sort of clash of titans arranged by THS every year, where the different chapters get to meet each other in all kinds of different sports. If you want to participate for the Physics chapter, IN is the one to turn to. - IN-paddling
Experience the Stockholm archipelago in its purest form! Join IN in the twice annual paddling trip to some random island and enjoy the camp fire chit-chat and some real out doors barbecue. - IN-Events
Depending on the demands of its members, IN also organizes different events during the year. Some examples are:- Soccer

- Ping Pong
- Climbing

Mottagningen – the Welcomer’s Guild
Mottagningen is in charge of the Orientation Weeks for the new Swedish students enrolling to Engineering Physics. The Orientation Weeks consist of in the middle of August packed with fun activities, parties and interesting lectures. As an international Exchange student you are more than welcome to participate in as many of the activities as possible – it’s highly recommended if you wish to be a more integrated part of the Physics Chapter. Be aware, that some activities might be found offensive if you are not prepared for them and don’t speak Swedish. For more information contact mottagningen@f.kth.se.
