JämN’s purpose
JämN is the Physics Chapter’s JML-committee, where JML stands for jämlikhet (equality), mångfald (diversity) and likabehandling (equal treatment). Our purpose is to strengthen community between minorities, create forums for discussion and support other committees in their JML work. Additionally we work so that the chapter follows THS’s (the KTH student union) JML policy and supports KTH’s work towards increasing diversity in the recruitment of new students.
Our Work
For the entire Chapter we arrange inclusive events, like movie nights, lectures, women exclusive dinners, and participation in the Stockholm Pride Parade. Our more continuous work includes bringing attention to specific holidays with a JML perspective, and creating and distributing a monthly newsletter about both inequalities and advances. But the foundation of JämN’s work consists of fika-filled lunch meetings where we discuss how our education and chapter could improve in such a way to make everyone be at their best!
JämN’s officials
Beyond all the active members of JämN there are also some positions with their own areas of responsibility within the committee, which are called JämNa funktion(är)er (JämN’s officials)! There are called the following:
- Månadsbladsansvarig: plans and creates the monthly newsletters.
- JämNemang: plans and arranges events.
- Stockholms Pride: arranges the chapter’s involvement in the Stockholm Pride Parade.
- BraFIKA: arranges fika for our lunch meetings.
- GraFIKA: creates the committee’s graphics, for example the committee’s logo or posters for events.
- PRide: responsible for the committee’s PR, by for example taking photos or managing social media.
